This report is based on input from 33 freelance technical/marcom writers and documentation managers. The report is based only on input from 28 of these. The other 5 participants reported no billable hours as freelance writers during the entire quarter.
New calculations were added that more accurately reflect true market rates. These calculations are based on the entire pool of individual billable hours rather than on rates for each writer. These calculations assume that each writer charges the same rate for each billable hour. In order to post this report early I did not include these calculations in various breakdowns, but I hope to post an updated version later in the quarter.
All rates are those actually charged, not asking rates. At the end of 2008 technical and marcom writers moved en-masse from $USD to NIS as their main currency for rates. This trend has continued so only one report was created with all rates converted to NIS.
